Drew Estate Herrera Estelí Miami Corona

Drew Estate Herrera Estelí Miami Corona 1September 18th, 2017

Size of cigar: 5.75 inches by 48 ring gauge
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Ecuadorian Sumatra
Fillers: Dominican & Nicaraguan

The Miami version of the Herrera Estelí blend is rolled at the El Titan factory, the ‘home’ factory of Willy Herrera.

Cloaked in an oily Colorado colored wrapper with one noticeable vein, my sample had a nice firm bunch. The wrapper and foot gave off aromas of leather, cocoa and cinnamon, while the cold draw of the Corona was perfect. My chosen accompanying beverage was a Real Ale Three Lions IPA.

The initial notes of the cigar were mostly of leather. This was a medium to full-flavored and bodied smoke, which displayed a clean burn and a light grey ash.

A sweetness appeared during the first third to complement the leather notes. The burn was perfect and the ash solid thus far, falling just as I finished the first third. The smoke was plentiful and smooth.

During the second third of the session, cinnamon notes joined the leather along with luxurious tobacco flavors. There was also a notably light background characteristic reminiscent of a very fine tequila. The burn continued in a mostly even vein. The retro-hale was very smooth with no pepper notes. I thought the construction of this cigar to be excellent.

Approaching the final inch, the cigar remained excellent, exhibiting complex flavors of tobacco, leather and cinnamon. The burn was still even during the latter stages.

If you are a fan of Liga Privadas and/or Undercrowns, this cigar is a must try. The overall experience is excellent.

I scored the Herrera Estelí Miami Corona 9.5/10. Joe Bob says, “Check it out.”
